Our Life in a Year: July (and a freebie) July 13, 2012

Filed under: Adriana's Cafe,CT Shout Outs,Family,Freebie,Jovelle,STS designer — Christie @ 5:59 am

I’m so glad Adriana’s Cafe is making all these cute Our Life in a Year kits – it’s giving me a chance to catch up on scrapping some of those pictures that have been sitting on my computer! (And to weed through them – a necessity since my computer is flashing me a warning, “You have only 5 gigabytes of free space remaining. Yikes! Adriana has to stop making all these cute kits so I can get some hard drive space back! 😉 ) Her July kit is really cute – and there’s even a patriotic themed add-on so you can scrap all those Fourth of July pictures. Check out the pages I made with the kit and add-on.

Using the main portion of the July kit (Isn’t she a cutie, by the way???)

And here’s a look at the kit and add-on.

The add-on.

You can pick up the kit at STS or SNP. It will be on sale for $2.50 at both stores – an even better deal, because the add-on is included FREE! It’s like getting two kits for the price of one!

And here’s a freebie for you – a fun little journal cluster for those Fourth of July pictures so you don’t have to do all the work yourself and can spend more time enjoying the summer sun! You can get it here.

Oh, and speaking of Adriana’s Cafe’s Our Life in a Year kits – the Quickpage Challenge at Stuff to Scrap features these kits. Check it out!

Earth Day, Every Day April 11, 2012

Cuteness.

I got to work with this adorable kit from Mommy Made This – Earth Day, Every Day. I LOVE the colors of this kit. I don’t know what it is about them, but I seriously have been opening up the preview just to look at the kit and the colors. I feel so… peaceful. (I know – how Earth Day of me, right? 😉 ) The soft blues, green and browns are just perfect together.

I really like the globe papers and element, too – perfect for this page I’ve been wanting to do with the story of how God called me into missions.

Next in line for this kit is a page with some cute photos of some really cute babies in cloth diapers.  🙂

…But even if you don’t have cute photos of babies in cloth diapers, the colors of this kit work great with all kinds of photos, and there are lots of neutral elements in the kit, too, so the kit’s not just for Earth Day.   Pick it up at Stuff to Scrap or Scraps-n-Pieces, and check out the coordinating cardstock to complete the kit, too!

Jovelle May 1, 2011

Filed under: STS designer — Christie @ 11:19 pm

I never pegged myself for a girly-girl, but since Jovelle’s been born, I find myself wanting to dress her in pink and design scrapbook pages in colors other than blue.  🙂  Shel Belle Scraps has a kit called Amelia that was perfect for this – really pretty papers and lots of purple (My favorite paper is the one with lots of flowers.).  Here are some pages I made with it.

Isn’t she cute??

April Showers Bring… New Kits! March 1, 2011

Filed under: CT Shout Outs,STS designer — Christie @ 12:01 pm

It’s a new month, which means new kits – and a great blog train – at Stuff to Scrap!   Jensen Motley Crew Designs used the colors from this month’s Build a Kit (where all of the designers use the same color palette to create mini kits, which means that you can buy a couple kits or a lot, and you’ll end up with some fun color coordinated kits) to make a pretty boy-ish kit called Christopher.  Here’s a page I made with it:

Motorcycle Judah (Click on image to enlarge and read journaling.)

I don’t typically use quick pages, but sometimes a gal just wants to get a page or two done, even with a 2 week old baby.  Insert quick pages here.  😉

Here’s a peek at some of the parts of the kit you can get, available at Jensen Motley Crew’s store at Stuff to Scrap

You can get the whole kit or just a few of the pieces if you want.

…While you’re there, check out the blog train, too, on the STS blog.  This month’s theme celebrates reading and libraries – how fun is that?!  (says the bookworm English major)

Kits I’m Eyeing February 24, 2011

Digi-designs by Nicole is having a fun contest (Pick me, pick me!  😉  ) where we highlight three of her kits for the chance to win them.  Well, one was an easy pick for me because I’ve been eying it since the particularly bittersweet moment of Judah’s first haircut.  Sniff sniff.
Before (Okay, okay, so maybe he needed the haircut! But still….!!)

After.... (Bye bye curls! 😦 )

So bittersweet!  It feels like such a short time ago that he was this bald little newborn that God entrusted to us…. I think he’s growing faster than even his hair is!

…But for all the bittersweetness, I still want to remember his first haircut…. So wouldn’t this kit be lovely for that??

Aren't the scissors and comb adorable?? (Image linked to Nicole's store if you want to check it out.)

The other ones I had a bit more difficulty with.  Sigh – so many to choose from!  🙂

…But since I love Disney and am hoping we’ll get to take another trip there soon, this one grabbed my attention.

A lot of the papers are generic enough, too, that they'd work for non-Disney layouts, too. (Image linked to store.)

And finally, after debating between the baby kit (Hey, I’ve got baby on the brain!  Only 3 more weeks left until Due Date!) and another Disney kit (I mean REALLY hoping to get back….  😉  ), what I kept going back to is not actually a kit but a template pack.  Now hear me out!  This is not your ordinary template pack….

(Image linked)

See, I told you….  I’m all about the template to save time – and to help me do all the things I don’t know how to.  I really like this template pack because one of the things I miss about paper scrapbooking is the ability to create fun shapes with scissors.  I loved going to crops and using all the fancy paper cutters in different shapes, and though I know there’s that capability in digital scrapbooking, in all honesty, I have no clue how to do it (and probably don’t have the brain power and time to learn at this stage, either.  I’m lucky to even get a page done!) – insert these templates!

So there you have it!  Some more fun kit options from the digital scrapbooking world, this time featuring Nicole of Digi-deigns by Nicole (who, incidentally, is the owner of Stuff to Scrap, arguably one of my favorite digital scrapbooking forums and galleries.  If you haven’t checked out their forum and challenges, do it!  They’re fun, and you can even earn points towards a gift card to their store.)
